Manfred Gunziger

Manfred Gunziger (51 as of 2026) is a Swiss finance executive who, until 2026, served as Bereichsleiter Finanzen (Head of Finance) and a member of the Geschäftsleitung (executive management) of the Pensionskasse Kanton Solothurn, the cantonal pension fund of Solothurn. The fund is a substantial institutional investor: as of end-2019 it reported roughly CHF 5.5 billion in total assets, a 12.4% investment return for that year, a coverage ratio of 109.2%, and value-fluctuation reserves of about CHF 464 million. In that role Gunziger had responsibility for the fund's finance and accounting function within its senior leadership team.

He holds a degree in business economics (Betriebsökonomie) and the federally recognized professional qualification of expert in accounting and controlling (Experte in Rechnungslegung und Controlling). He grew up in Matzendorf and lives in Riedholz, both in the Canton of Solothurn, and is described as deeply familiar with the region.

In April 2026 it was announced that Gunziger had been elected the new Head of Finance (Leiter Finanzen) of the municipality of Oensingen, joining the municipal management board effective 1 June 2026. On the appointment he said he was looking forward to "taking on responsibility in my home region and actively shaping Oensingen's future together with the team."
