Background
Marc Lesnick is a Partner at Fortissimo Capital, one of Israel's leading private equity funds, and has been with the firm since its inception in 2004. Fortissimo invests in maturing technology and industrial companies through growth capital, buyouts, and special situations, and has raised more than $2.7 billion across six funds while investing in dozens of companies.
Before Fortissimo, Lesnick was the Managing Director of Jerusalem Global and subsequently part of the founding team of a spin-off of that firm — experience that placed him at the center of Israeli technology dealmaking and cross-border transactions in the late 1990s and early 2000s.
Earlier in his career, before relocating to Israel, Lesnick worked as a senior corporate attorney in the New York offices of the international law firm Weil, Gotshal & Manges, where he led numerous Israel-related transactions and represented leading financial institutions. His legal grounding informs his work on the complex, structured, control-oriented deals that characterize Fortissimo's strategy.
Lesnick holds a J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania and a B.A. from Yeshiva University.
Investment Thesis & Focus
- Invests through Fortissimo's private-equity model: growth equity, buyouts, recapitalizations, spin-offs, and special situations — not early/seed venture.
- Targets companies with proven technology, stable revenue, a clear roadmap to profitability, large/high-growth addressable markets, and strong leadership teams.
- Sector concentration in technology and industrial businesses, with a strong Israel and U.S. footprint.
- Frequently takes meaningful or controlling stakes and active governance roles (e.g., board seats) rather than passive minority positions.
- Firm's stated culture emphasizes "honesty, trust, respect, transparency, and collaboration" as drivers of success "both within our firm and across our portfolio companies," using an orchestra metaphor in which each company performs in harmony under strong management.
