Background
Marietta Moshiashvili is a Partner in QIC’s New York office. QIC says she joined the firm in 2024 and heads its North American infrastructure origination and asset management teams. She is also a Portfolio Manager for one of QIC’s separately managed accounts and serves on the boards of CenTrio and Generate Capital, with a board-observer role at Renewa.
Before QIC, Moshiashvili was Chief Executive Officer and Managing Partner of Upper Bay Infrastructure Partners, an independently owned North American private infrastructure investment firm she co-founded in 2018. Upper Bay focused on middle-market infrastructure private equity, targeting both mature assets and growth-oriented infrastructure investments in partnership with operators and developers.
Earlier in her career, Moshiashvili was a Managing Director and Group Head of Nuveen’s global direct equity infrastructure platform. ACG New York’s biography says she set investment strategy and oversaw the buildout of TIAA/Nuveen’s infrastructure equity business, after holding senior roles across infrastructure, private equity, and project finance within TIAA/Nuveen Private Markets. She also worked in project finance at Credit Suisse and The Toronto-Dominion Bank.
Moshiashvili holds a B.S. in International Business and Economics, cum laude, from New York University’s Stern School of Business and is a member of Omicron Delta Epsilon.
Investment Thesis & Focus
- QIC Infrastructure describes its approach as investing in and actively managing “diversified portfolios of unlisted infrastructure assets across transport, energy & utilities, and government & social sectors,” with an OECD-market focus.
- QIC’s infrastructure process emphasizes long-term active management, thematic research, sector expertise, and diversification across geographies, sectors, and asset lifecycles.
- Moshiashvili’s Upper Bay strategy focused on North American middle-market infrastructure private equity, including mature stable assets and growth-oriented platforms.
- Her historical sector focus includes transportation and logistics, power and utilities, midstream, telecommunications, renewables, district energy, distributed power, and solar.
- In a 2016 Institutional Investor discussion, she framed infrastructure as assets where private direct investment can offer governance and value creation through active management, including “direct board influence or control.”
