Mark Gill

Mark Gill is a co-founder and Managing Director of Talu Ventures, the Brisbane-based venture fund manager established in 2013 as the successor to CM Capital. He leads the firm's Technology practice, overseeing all aspects of Talu's IT and telecommunications investments alongside co-founders Andy Jane (Life Sciences) and Jonathan Whitehouse (Chief Finance Officer). Mark joined CM Capital in 2006 and became Head of its Technology Practice in 2008 before the team spun out to form Talu.

Mark brings more than two decades of operating experience in the technology sector, built through a career largely on the operating side rather than in finance. Before entering venture capital he spent roughly 16 years in general management, chief executive, and global sales and marketing roles focused on taking technology products to global markets. In 2003 he became CEO of DSpace, an Australian satellite-modem developer, where he recruited the management team, drove strong revenue growth against a top-tier customer list, and led the company to profitability. He steered DSpace through a successful trade sale to US-based EMS Technologies (later part of Honeywell). His earlier career also included senior sales and executive roles at companies such as Pacific Star Technologies and UshaComm, spanning hardware and software engineering as well as the media and communications sectors.

Mark holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours Class I) in Electrical Engineering from the University of New South Wales, a Diploma of Company Directorship from the AICD / University of Sydney Graduate School of Management, and a Diploma of Financial Services (Financial Markets) from AFMA. He is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (FAICD) and sits on the boards of a number of Talu portfolio companies globally.
