Background
Mark C. Jensen is an entrepreneur and investor who founded T Squared Partners LLC and its affiliated micro-cap investment vehicle, T Squared Capital LLC. He began his career on Wall Street in 2002, holding sales, trading, capital-markets and product-management roles with several firms that specialized in company turnarounds. Over his career he says he has invested in or advised on transactions exceeding $1 billion across multiple asset classes worldwide, developing a specialty in restructuring and re-capitalizing distressed and micro-cap businesses. He earned dual bachelor's degrees in Finance and International Studies from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University.
From that investing base, Jensen moved from backing companies to building and running them. He has served as CEO of Quest Energy, Inc. and its predecessor companies since roughly 2006, and today is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of American Resources Corporation (Nasdaq: AREC), a company he helped form to acquire and reposition legacy mining and infrastructure assets. American Resources has acquired more than $500 million of legacy assets through a series of acquisitions, reflecting Jensen's roll-up and turnaround playbook applied to the critical-mineral and infrastructure supply chain.
Jensen has increasingly focused on the rare-earth and critical-battery-materials space. He is Co-Founder and serves as CEO/Chairman of ReElement Technologies Corporation, a domestic refiner of rare earth and critical battery elements aimed at energy-transition and national-security supply chains. He also founded Land Betterment Corporation in 2020, serving as its Executive Chairman, a company focused on environmental remediation and sustainable redevelopment of former mining sites. Across these ventures, T Squared Partners functions as Jensen's personal investment platform, seeding and financing companies he then helps operate.
He describes himself as "a leader and innovator in the critical mineral and infrastructure supply chain with over 20 years of commodity experience" and more than 15 years of financial-market experience. He resides in Fishers, Indiana with his family.
Investment Thesis & Focus
- Invests through T Squared Partners LLC / T Squared Capital LLC, a micro-cap and special-situations vehicle rather than a conventional VC fund — capital is often paired with hands-on operating and board involvement.
- Concentrates on natural resources, energy, critical minerals / rare earths, infrastructure, and environmental/sustainability businesses — sectors where he has deep operating experience.
- Favors turnaround, restructuring and re-capitalization situations: he built his career at Wall Street firms "specialized in company turnarounds" and applies that to undervalued micro-cap and legacy assets.
- Take-control / founder-operator style: he frequently co-founds or takes executive/chairman roles (American Resources, ReElement, Land Betterment, Quest Energy) rather than passive minority stakes.
- Stated positioning emphasizes "sustainable solutions through collaborative platforms designed to challenge monopolistic control of critical minerals globally" — a thesis around domestic, national-security-aligned critical-mineral supply.
Notable Investments
- American Resources Corporation (Nasdaq: AREC) — Critical-mineral and infrastructure company he chairs and leads as CEO; acquired 500M+ in legacy mining/infrastructure assets through nine-plus acquisitions.
- ReElement Technologies Corporation — Co-founded domestic rare-earth and critical-battery-element refining company; received a two-year, $2M U.S. Department of War investment (Sept 2025) and partnered with ERI on electronics-derived rare-earth recovery (Nov 2025).
- Land Betterment Corporation — Founded 2020; environmental remediation and sustainable redevelopment of former mining land; he serves as Executive Chairman.
- Quest Energy, Inc. — Energy company he has led as CEO since ~2006 (predecessor companies included).
- NGFC / related micro-cap vehicles — Involved in control transactions of small public companies (e.g., SEC filings tied to Quest/NGFC), consistent with his micro-cap acquisition strategy.
