Mark Mcintosh

Mark McIntosh is an Operating Partner of Portland Private Equity, a fund manager whose approximately US$400M in funds are invested throughout the Caribbean and Central America across sectors including energy, financial services, and tourism. Portland's platform spans multiple vintages — the AIC Caribbean Fund, Portland Caribbean Fund II, and Portland Caribbean Fund III — and emphasizes strong indigenous businesses, sustainability, and impact, with a notable record on gender diversity (roughly 90% of Portland Caribbean Fund II portfolio companies are woman-led and/or have a significant share of female employees).

Beyond private equity, McIntosh serves as Director of Development for a family investment company, where he oversees mergers, acquisitions, financing, and operations. His governance roles are extensive: he is Chairman of the National Commercial Bank pension fund (about US$300M under management), a director of CVM Television (Jamaica's second-largest TV station), and a director of the National Museum of Jamaica. He has also served multiple terms with National Museums Jamaica and the Jamaica National Heritage Trust and was formerly a director of Advantage General Insurance Company. His operating experience includes running a major coffee business — developing high-profile clients such as Harrods and Starbucks Reserve — and designing and operating a five-star hotel.

McIntosh is an active angel investor and mentor to startups across the Caribbean region. He spent roughly seven years on the board of the Richard Branson Centre of Entrepreneurship, Caribbean, including a tenure as Deputy Chairman — the Branson Centre being a founding partner of Jamaica's seed-stage angel network, Alpha Angels.

He was educated at Harvard, earning a Bachelor's degree with Honors from Harvard College (where he served as a DJ and led the Hip Hop and Reggae music departments) and a law degree from Harvard Law School. He maintains membership in the Florida Bar.
