Background

Mark McMeans is Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Brasada Capital Management, a Houston-based wealth management and investment advisory firm. Brasada’s website lists him as part of the investment team and identifies the firm’s services as investment advisory, portfolio management, financial planning, and retirement planning.

McMeans began his career as an auditor and CPA at KPMG, primarily serving investment companies. He later joined what is now J.P. Morgan’s trust department as an accounting supervisor before moving to AIM Investments in Houston.

He spent 16 years at AIM Investments in several roles, including Director of Equity Portfolio Management and President of AIM Private Asset Management. AIM was later acquired by Invesco; McMeans notes that AIM became the eighth-largest mutual fund manager in the United States.

In 2008, during the Great Financial Crisis, McMeans co-founded Brasada with three AIM Investments alumni. He holds an MBA in Finance from Rice University’s Jones Graduate School of Business, a BBA in Accounting from the University of Texas at Austin McCombs School of Business, and is a CFA charterholder.

  • Brasada favors concentrated positions in quality businesses with differentiation, secular tailwinds, and strong management.
  • The firm’s process emphasizes idea generation, fundamental research, portfolio construction, portfolio monitoring, and capital reallocation.
