Background
Mark Suderow is Head of Co-Investments at Attegia Investment Office, an owner-managed private investment office and family office linked to the founders behind AUCTUS Capital Partners. Attegia says it invests across private equity fund investments, secondary transactions, co-investments, renewable energy and real estate, and that its team has invested in more than 500 transactions across Europe and North America over 30+ years.
Before Attegia, Suderow spent a long period at DPE Deutsche Private Equity. Public DPE and conference biographies identify him as having joined DPE in 2009 and later serving as Investment Director and Partner. At DPE he worked on growth-equity and buy-and-build investments in the German Mittelstand, especially in construction-related services, energy transition services and other B2B sectors.
Earlier in his career, Suderow worked in corporate finance at Lehman Brothers and Nomura in Frankfurt and London, advising on M&A and IPO transactions. He began his career as a freelance equity research analyst at Rochdale Securities in New York.
Suderow holds a Diplom-Kaufmann degree. His education includes business studies at European Business School in Oestrich-Winkel, National University of Singapore and Unitec School of Business in Auckland.
Investment Thesis & Focus
- Attegia’s stated philosophy is to invest in “funds, companies and assets that provide industry-leading returns,” with an emphasis on deep sector understanding, fast decision-making and openness to unconventional structures.
- Current co-investment focus at Attegia: established funds, club deals, GP-leds, emerging managers and independent sponsors, with €5m-€10m tickets.
- Attegia’s co-investment target profile is industry-agnostic, but requires growing, cash-generating businesses, strong and incentivized management teams, and meaningful GP commitment.
- For private equity fund investments, Attegia targets long-standing established funds or newly formed funds by experienced investors, with €5m-€20m ticket sizes, focused on small and lower mid-market buyout, deep value / special situations, buy-and-build and growth.
- At DPE, Suderow articulated a growth and consolidation thesis around fragmented markets. In the Massenberg deal, he said the company fit DPE’s strategy of creating “a growth platform within an attractive industry” through acquisitions, succession solutions, investment options or partnerships.
- In a DPE interview on succession, Suderow said DPE sought entrepreneurs with whom it could shape succession “partnerschaftlich” and described DPE’s focus as promoting and accelerating sustainably profitable growth.
