Background
Mark Weisman is a Managing Director at Navidar, a software- and technology-focused investment bank specializing in M&A and capital-raising advisory for middle-market companies. He brings roughly 30 years of experience as an executive, entrepreneur, advisor and attorney, and has worked both as an advisor and as a principal across a wide range of M&A and financing transactions.
His career spans several disciplines. He began as a corporate attorney, spending more than five years as a senior attorney at Hahn Loeser & Parks in Cleveland. He then moved into operating roles, serving as a senior executive and part owner of a distribution/manufacturing company — holding VP, General Counsel and CFO responsibilities — where the business grew from roughly $100M to $200M in revenue. He was also a partner and CEO of an early-stage healthcare-services company that was sold in 2008, and did consulting work with technology and healthcare-technology firms on operations, business development and fundraising. In the five years immediately before Navidar, he was a Principal at CP Capital Partners, advising companies from start-up to middle market on debt financing and capital raising.
Weisman holds a BS in Economics, cum laude, from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, and a JD, magna cum laude, from Boston University School of Law. He is based in the Cleveland, Ohio area, one of Navidar's regional offices (the firm is headquartered in Austin with additional presence in San Antonio, Dallas, Denver, Indianapolis and Minneapolis).
At Navidar, he focuses on sell-side M&A and capital-raising mandates for technology and tech-enabled businesses. Navidar's principals have collectively completed more than 400 transactions representing nearly $110 billion in M&A and capital-raising volume over 25+ years.
Investment Thesis & Focus
- Advisory-led, not a fund: Weisman and Navidar generate outcomes through M&A execution and capital raising rather than writing equity checks.
- Sector concentration in SaaS/software, eCommerce, IT and engineering services, healthcare IT, specialty manufacturing and tech-enabled businesses.
- Emphasis on middle-market, technology-driven companies in the central U.S. corridor, positioned by Navidar as "Local Presence, Global Reach™."
- A recurring theme in his public commentary is that founders should prepare for an exit early and build relationships with bankers well before a transaction, so the company is positioned to maximize value when the time comes.
