Background
Martín Naor is the founder and CEO of Bankingly, a Montevideo-based fintech that supplies cloud, omnichannel digital-banking channels (mobile, online and conversational banking) to smaller financial institutions — cooperatives, microfinance institutions and small-and-medium banks — serving low-income and underserved customers across Latin America, Africa and Asia. He is a technology executive with more than two decades of experience spanning technology, sales and marketing, and holds an MBA from the Universidad de Montevideo (1995).
His career began in 2002 as an Endeavor Entrepreneur with Endeavor, the global high-impact entrepreneurship network, where he worked to identify, mentor and scale emerging-market founders. He then spent roughly 11–12 years at Microsoft as the OEM Leader for Microsoft Latam, running one of the company's most profitable Latin American divisions. In 2009 he joined Infocorp — an Endeavor Uruguay company and one of Latin America's largest banking-software providers — serving as CEO for about nine years.
In 2015, having conceived a lighter, more flexible, SaaS-style version of Infocorp's digital-banking technology aimed at smaller institutions, Naor spun off Bankingly with a small founding team. Beyond Bankingly he has been active in the regional fintech ecosystem, serving as President of the Uruguayan Chamber of Fintech and as a Vice President / President figure in Fintech IberoAmérica. He has also held advisory and board roles, including advisor to Gurucargo and Vitrium Capital and board member of Roasting Plant Coffee.
Investment Thesis & Focus
- Invests personally as an angel, primarily in software and internet businesses; aggregator profiles list a focus on SaaS and internet startups at pre-seed through Series A stages, in Uruguay and the United States.
- His overarching mission — stated repeatedly in his operating work — is financial inclusion: *"Enabling financial health and inclusion through great digital experiences is our mission,"* a lens that informs his interest in technology that closes access gaps.
- Founder-operator profile: as a serial Endeavor-affiliated entrepreneur, he brings hands-on scaling, LatAm go-to-market, and enterprise-software experience rather than being a pure financial investor.
- Public aggregators (Crunchbase, PitchBook) record a small number of angel deals (roughly 2–5 disclosed), so his angel activity is selective rather than high-volume.
Notable Investments
- MonkeyLearn — no-code text-analytics / NLP machine-learning platform (later acquired by Medallia); early/seed-stage angel participation.
- Lynkos — CRM and business-productivity software platform; listed as his most recent disclosed angel investment (around March 2017).
- Roasting Plant Coffee — specialty coffee company where he has served as a board member (a consumer/hospitality holding rather than a tech bet).
