Matthew Arnold

Matthew Timothy Arnold is a finance and technology executive best known for his investing work at Oxford Science Enterprises and operating roles at Mind Foundry and Fractile. Companies House records show multiple former board appointments across Oxford-linked companies, including Navenio, Mind Foundry, OxfordVR, PQShield, Diffblue, BibliU, HEXR, Covatic, 1715 Labs, Dark Horse Technologies, and Waymo UK / 6D.ai-related entities.

Arnold was a founding investor at Oxford Science Enterprises, where his work focused on building and scaling new deep-tech companies spun out of University of Oxford research. A Mind Foundry-sourced biography says he helped Oxford spinouts including PQShield, BibliU, Diffblue, OxfordVR, Ultromics, HEXR, 6D.ai, Latent Logic, and Navenio turn research into scalable businesses.

Before OSE, Arnold spent more than a decade at Goldman Sachs, including Managing Director roles in Principal Strategic Investments and Fixed Income Analytics, after earlier software-engineering roles at Goldman Sachs and J.P. Morgan. His background combines engineering, quantitative finance, venture building, and board-level support for early-stage technology companies. He holds an Information Engineering degree from the University of Cambridge, reported by public bio sources as a master’s-level qualification.

Arnold later served as CFO and COO at Mind Foundry, an Oxford AI company focused on responsible machine learning for defence and national security. He is now listed by Fractile’s official team page as CFO. Fractile is a UK AI hardware company building processors for faster large-model inference.
