Matthew Hurley

Matthew J. Hurley is a Boston-based financial-services executive with more than two decades of leadership in private equity and private credit. In 2000 he joined Falcon Investment Advisors when the firm had essentially no assets under management, and over the following ~20 years helped build it into a firm managing more than $4 billion (public filings list roughly $3.3B AUM). As Partner and Chief Financial Officer, he oversaw financial operations across the firm's seven closed-end funds, supported fundraising, led operational due diligence, structured deals, negotiated credit facilities, and managed the firm's vendor relationships.

When Onex Corporation acquired Falcon (the firm became "Onex Falcon"), Hurley remained as Managing Director & CFO to see the transition through. Before Falcon, he worked at John Hancock Financial Services, Inc., where he served as Controller of Hancock Mezzanine Partners, LP — early exposure to the mezzanine/junior-capital work that shaped his career.

Since January 2024, Hurley has been Managing Partner at GenWel Capital, a Boston-based investment firm offering accredited investors access to private-market strategies for income and growth, with an emphasis on real estate credit and niche private offerings. At GenWel he leads financial operations and brings institutional-grade infrastructure to a smaller, newer platform, drawing on 35+ years of financial-services experience.

He holds a B.S. in Business Administration from Bryant University. He serves on the Financial Executive Alliance Board and is a member of the Private Equity CFO Association and the Treasurers' Club of Boston.
