Matthew Savage

Matthew Savage is the co-founder and Chairman of Dorilton Capital, a multi-strategy private investment firm he has led since its founding in 2009. Before establishing Dorilton, he spent 22 years at Rothschild, working across the firm's London and New York offices, where he advised clients on mergers, acquisitions, and restructuring transactions. He holds a BA in Physics from Oxford University and an MBA from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

Dorilton describes itself as a multi-strategy private investment firm that deploys capital flexibly — "without being limited by asset class, geography, or structure" — across private equity, direct co-investments, venture, real estate, insurance, and sports assets. At the firm level, Dorilton Capital makes sizeable commitments (reported at roughly $50–500 million) into innovative managers and operating companies.

Savage came to wider public attention in 2020 when Dorilton Capital acquired the Williams Formula 1 team (Williams Grand Prix Holdings) for a reported ~$200 million, ending decades of family ownership. He serves as Chairman of Williams Racing's board of directors and is regularly featured in Formula 1 industry "power" rankings for his ownership role.

In April 2021, as the group rebranded under a single Dorilton identity, Savage launched Dorilton Ventures, the firm's venture arm focused on early- to mid-stage technology companies. He framed the launch by saying, "Dorilton Ventures brings the strength of our team and our approach into the venture market," and emphasized the arm's patient-capital model: "Our investments are not time-limited, nor are we subject to concentration limits faced by many VC funds."
