Matthieu Repellin

Matthieu Repellin is an Investment Manager (Principal) at Airbus Ventures, the venture arm of aerospace group Airbus, and is based in Paris. He spent more than a decade in the high-tech and semiconductor industry before moving into venture capital — starting his career as an engineer designing microprocessors and later moving through market research, strategic planning, finance and corporate strategy roles, including a long stint at STMicroelectronics.

He joined Airbus in 2013 as a Senior Manager in Corporate Strategy, where he advised leadership on future trends and emerging technologies. From roughly 2014 to 2016 he was closely involved in expanding Airbus's footprint in Silicon Valley, bridging the corporation with the U.S. startup and technology ecosystem. He transitioned into an investing role with Airbus Ventures around late 2016, focusing on identifying and managing early-stage investment opportunities in aerospace and deep-tech.

On the education side, Repellin studied at INSEAD (2020–2021) and has completed executive/graduate coursework associated with UC Berkeley's Haas School of Business and HEC Paris (including certifications tied to aerospace/aviation and finance). This combination of engineering roots, corporate strategy experience and finance training shapes his approach to backing technically deep companies.

• Invests at pre-seed and seed, writing checks in the ~$100K–$5M range (reported sweet spot around $1.5M), as part of Airbus Ventures' mandate to back "entrepreneurs shifting the future of aerospace."
• Focuses on frontier / deep technologies: robotics, autonomy and transportation, space, cloud infrastructure, IoT, AI, semiconductors and auto-tech.
• Leans on his engineering and semiconductor background to underwrite hard-tech and hardware-heavy companies that many generalist seed funds find difficult to evaluate.
• As a corporate VC, values startups where there is potential strategic relevance or technology alignment with the aerospace and Airbus ecosystem, alongside standalone venture returns.
