Michael Gat

Michael Gat is a Partner and the General Counsel of QVT, the New York–based family office that grew out of QVT Financial LP. He has been with the firm since 2006 and, per regulatory filings, has formally held the General Counsel role since September 1, 2015. His work centers on the firm's legal and compliance matters across its multi-strategy investment activities.

Gat earned a B.A. in Government & Economics, with distinction, from Cornell University, and a J.D. from New York University School of Law. He is an attorney admitted to practice in New York State (admitted in 2000), and public attorney directories list him at QVT's 888 Seventh Avenue address in Manhattan.

QVT describes itself as "a group of original thinkers with non-traditional backgrounds" who bring broad, diverse expertise to investing. The firm originated as a privately owned hedge fund sponsor that invested in public equity and debt globally, as well as alternative markets including structured finance, private placements, high yield, and distressed debt.
