Background

Michał Rokosz is a Partner at Inovo Venture Partners, a Warsaw-based early-stage VC firm and one of the most active seed investors in Central and Eastern Europe. By his own account he has spent roughly six years in venture investing, four years building online companies, five years in FMCG marketing (working on brands across washing powders, coffee and Coca-Cola), and two years in strategic consulting. He has been associated with three of Inovo's funds. He studied at the SGH Warsaw School of Economics.

Before venture, Rokosz built and scaled consumer-internet operations. Public profiles credit him with roles including head of marketing at Rocket Internet and managing director of foodpanda CEE (whose Polish operations were later merged into/acquired by PizzaPortal), as well as an operating role as COO at Booksy, the beauty-booking marketplace that went on to become one of Poland's best-known scale-ups. That operator background shapes how he describes himself as an investor — "a topline guy" focused on sales, marketing and growth rather than purely on product or finance.

At Inovo he sits on the partnership alongside Tomasz Swieboda and Maciej Małysz. Inovo closed its third fund at €105M in June 2023 (against a €100M target), backed by LPs including PFR Ventures and the European Investment Fund, and plans to fund roughly 20–30 companies from it. Inovo's model is to write conviction seed checks and then help founders raise a strong Series A within ~18 months, leaning on a network of tier-1 international funds; the firm reports a follow-on rate around 70%, with later rounds led by investors such as a16z, Insight Partners, Tiger Global, Google's Gradient Ventures and Point Nine.

Rokosz is a visible voice in the CEE ecosystem — he speaks at events such as Infoshare, writes "Why we invested" essays on Inovo's *Inside Inovo* Medium publication, and appears on the Inovo Podcast.

Investment Thesis & Focus

  • Stage & checks: Leads and co-leads seed rounds with first tickets of roughly €500k–€4M, occasionally going earlier (pre-seed) or slightly later (Series A), with meaningful follow-on reserves (up to ~€10M) to support winners through Series B.
  • CEE talent bet: Believes CEE is home to an enormous pool of exceptional technical talent and expects a sharp rise in unicorns from the region: *"Our plan is to find several new very big tech companies that will grow out of this region."*
  • Global-from-day-one ambition: *"We're looking for companies that can generate revenue in the hundreds of millions of dollars"* — with the *"assumption that these companies can go global, or at least European, from day one,"* and a preference for founders ready to relocate to the US.
  • Sector lens: Personally focused on B2C, B2B2C and SME SaaS, and especially health-tech — *"I strongly believe technology will change healthcare for the better."* He frames healthcare bets around structural problems like the coming shortage of GPs and technology that boosts clinician productivity.
  • Path-to-Series-A model: Inovo explicitly optimizes for helping seed companies raise a top-tier Series A within ~18 months by connecting them to a strong bench of global follow-on investors.

Notable Investments

  • Jutro Medical — Mobile-first primary-care provider in Poland; Rokosz led Inovo's €6M seed round in 2021 (after a Nov 2020 pre-seed), then Inovo's largest investment to date.
  • Booksy — Beauty/appointment-booking marketplace and one of Poland's flagship scale-ups; Rokosz is both a former operator (COO) and part of the Inovo backing story.
  • Infermedica — AI-driven symptom-checking and triage platform for healthcare; core to his health-tech thesis.
  • Tidio — Customer-service / live-chat and chatbot SaaS for SMBs.
  • Zowie — AI customer-service automation for e-commerce; later raised from top international VCs.
  • AhoyConnect — Community/data platform; subject of one of his "Why we invested" essays.
  • Index Health — Health-tech company in his portfolio.
  • Spacelift, Symmetrical — Broader Inovo standouts (infrastructure-as-code / developer tooling and embedded-finance/HR-fintech, respectively) that have raised follow-on rounds from investors like Insight Partners, Target Global, Gradient and Tiger Global.
