Background
Michel Péretié is Partner & Chairman of RiverRock European Capital Partners LLP. RiverRock’s team page describes him as having more than 35 years of experience in corporate and investment banking, including serving as CEO of Société Générale’s Corporate and Investment Banking division and as Chairman and CEO of Bear Stearns International.
RiverRock says Péretié became CEO in 2013, an appointment that led to a significant expansion of the firm’s talent base and investment opportunities. The firm, founded in 2009, focuses on European private markets and has managed direct-lending funds since 2011.
In June 2025, RiverRock announced that Luca Di Rico would become CEO, with Péretié transitioning from CEO into the roles of Partner and Chairman. In that role, RiverRock said he would provide strategic support for the firm’s growth plans.
Investment Thesis & Focus
- RiverRock’s stated approach is to provide alternative investment strategies in European private markets, with an emphasis on “discipline, diversification, sustainability and collateralisation.”
- The firm focuses on direct lending to SMEs and mid-cap companies across Europe, offering loans, debt securities, hybrid capital, and financial leases.
- In senior secured lending, RiverRock partners with ING Bank to source and co-invest in European loan opportunities; its RSLF2 strategy targets diversified portfolios of senior secured loans to European borrowers.
- RiverRock’s real-assets strategy targets smaller operational infrastructure assets in the Eurozone, especially government-related infrastructure with contractual or availability-based cash flows.
- RiverRock’s working-capital strategies provide trade finance, accounts-receivable finance, and other capital solutions to European SMEs and mid-market corporates.
- RiverRock states that its mission is to provide investors with “unique and otherwise-inaccessible fund strategies that genuinely diversify their portfolios.”
