Background
Michel Tamer is the Managing Partner of PMC Capital, the private equity and corporate development arm of PMC Global, Inc., a privately held, California-based industrial conglomerate and family office founded in 1971. He assumed the Managing Partner role in 2019, when PMC Capital was formally established as an independent lower-middle-market investing platform. In this capacity he is primarily responsible for deal sourcing, due diligence, valuation, transaction execution, post-close operational improvement, and portfolio oversight.
Before leading PMC Capital, Tamer served as Director of Business Affairs for PMC Global, where he worked directly with executive management on acquisitions, strategic investments and divestments, joint ventures, and other corporate transactions across a diverse, billion-dollar-plus portfolio spanning chemicals, clean energy, pharmaceuticals, plastics, packaging, construction, financial services, machinery/fabrication, and health & beauty. Prior to joining PMC, he was Executive Director and Chief Legal Officer at Skyview Capital, LLC, a Los Angeles private investment firm specializing in the acquisition and strategic management of carve-out services and technology businesses, where he handled all aspects of the firm's M&A activity.
Tamer is a licensed California attorney (State Bar #195772). He earned his B.A. from Loyola Marymount University and his Juris Doctorate from Loyola University New Orleans College of Law. His legal and transactional background — rather than a traditional VC pedigree — shapes his approach as an operator-investor focused on deal structuring and execution.
Under his leadership, PMC Capital has built a portfolio of national and international lower-middle-market businesses employing nearly 1,000 people and generating approximately $450M in combined annual revenue.
Investment Thesis & Focus
- Primary strategy (PMC Capital): control and significant-minority investments in lower-middle-market operating companies, typically ~$3M–$15M EBITDA and $15M+ revenue, where "thought, operational resources, and flexible capital can empower management teams to execute their business plans."
- Long-term, patient capital: as a family-office-backed vehicle, PMC emphasizes long-duration capital and a relatively hands-off approach to portfolio oversight that empowers existing management, rather than fixed-life-fund exit timelines.
- Sector orientation: heavy in industrials — chemicals/advanced materials, clean/alternative energy, engineering & procurement, plastics and packaging — reflecting PMC Global's operating roots.
- Selective seed/angel activity: separately participates in early-stage software rounds; the most visible example is B2B SaaS/fintech marketplace NachoNacho.
- Management is the key "yes": across sources the firm repeatedly cites quality of the management team as its central investment criterion.
