Michele Robitaille

Michele Robitaille is a Managing Director at Guardian Capital LP and, since May 2021, the firm's Head of Responsible Investing. She joined Guardian in 2003 as a portfolio manager on the Canadian equity team, with specific responsibility for equity income (dividend-focused) mandates. She was promoted to senior portfolio manager in 2007 and to Managing Director, Canadian Equities, in 2012, before taking on her current global responsible-investing leadership role.

Before Guardian, Robitaille worked as an equity research analyst for several Canadian investment dealers, including Scotia Capital Inc. and National Bank Financial. Earlier in her career she worked at Price Waterhouse LP (now PwC) in both the Audit and Business Services and the Financial Advisory Services groups, giving her a foundation in accounting, valuation, and corporate analysis.

She earned a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting and Finance) from the University of British Columbia (1989–1993). She holds the Chartered Professional Accountant / Chartered Accountant (CPA, CA), Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), and Chartered Business Valuator (CBV) designations — an unusually deep combination of accounting, investment, and valuation credentials.

In her current role, Robitaille is responsible for integrating responsible-investing (ESG) principles consistently across Guardian's investment processes globally, enhancing ESG disclosure and tooling, coordinating responsible-investing activity across Guardian's investment teams, and serving as the firm's thought leader and spokesperson on the subject.
