Mike Than Tun Win

Mike Than Tun Win is a Myanmar-born serial entrepreneur and angel investor. Born in Myanmar, he moved to Singapore at age eight, where he attended Victoria School and Temasek Junior College before earning a Bachelor of Business (Major in Marketing, Minor in Entrepreneurship) from Nanyang Technological University. He showed an early commercial instinct — famously selling gemstones on eBay from his home in Singapore at 17 — and founded his first tech venture while still a student. He was later honored with the Nanyang Outstanding Young Alumni Award.

He returned to Myanmar in 2011 and went on to found roughly eight companies across Myanmar, Thailand, and Singapore spanning diverse sectors including petrochemicals, distribution, finance, logistics, and automotive. His best-known operating company is Flymya.com, launched in 2015 as a platform for booking domestic airline tickets, tour packages, and hotels. Under his leadership Flymya scaled rapidly — reportedly growing from around 12 to 140 employees — and became one of the most recognizable travel-tech brands in Myanmar. He was profiled by Forbes in 2017 for taking the company "from $0 to $1.5M revenue in a year."

Alongside Flymya, he founded BOD Tech Ventures (around 2014–2015) with the stated mission of "unleashing local entrepreneurship through technology and empowering the local community." BOD Tech operates as a cross-border early-stage investor focused on tech-enabled businesses in underserved Asian markets. By April 2021, BOD Tech had reportedly invested in roughly 23 companies. In recent years Mike has increasingly directed his attention toward impact initiatives in education and the circular economy.

Outside of investing, he is widely known as the founder of Lesswalk, a nonprofit he launched in March 2019 that bought tens of thousands of disused bicycles from failed bike-sharing operators oBike and Ofo in Singapore and Malaysia, refurbished them, and distributed them free to students in rural Myanmar who otherwise walked long distances to school. He acquired around 10,000 bicycles in the first three months, with a stated goal of distributing 100,000 bikes over five years.
