Milan Patel

Milan Patel is the co-founder and CEO of PathogenDx, a Scottsdale, Arizona–based molecular diagnostics company that makes DNA-based, multiplex pathogen-testing products for the botanical/cannabis, food, and agricultural industries. He leads the company's strategic direction, financial health, and global growth. PathogenDx originated from Patel's own investment activity: he was an early investor in a clinical-diagnostics company testing for genetic markers in transplant organs, then licensed that microarray technology and spun it out to found PathogenDx ("pathogens" — bacteria, viruses and molds; "Dx" — diagnostics). The company's core "D3 array" technology is marketed as delivering same-day results without enrichment and running several times faster than conventional qPCR.

Patel describes more than 25 years of executive experience spanning life sciences, biotechnology, government services, and the automotive industry. Earlier in his career he held multiple roles at Intel Corporation across sales, marketing, finance, and manufacturing. He later served as Chief Financial Officer of 2020 Company, LLC, a professional-services firm focused on government contracting, and as CFO of Acentia (subsequently acquired and now part of Maximus Federal). He was also Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer at GMSbiotech. His functional expertise centers on corporate finance, M&A, business strategy, organizational structure, and compliance.

Patel is reported to have made angel investments in roughly 14 startups, reflecting an operator-investor profile: a founder/CEO who deploys personal capital into early-stage companies, most visibly in his own domain of diagnostics and life-science tooling. He is educated at the University of Detroit Mercy. As a frequently interviewed voice in the cannabis-testing sector, he is a recurring commentator on regulatory standardization and testing quality.
