Background
Minh Vu Hong is an investment professional who joined Qualgro VC, a Singapore-based venture capital firm, in 2018 — initially as an Investment Specialist and subsequently in a Manager role on the investment team. At Qualgro he focused on SaaS and other enterprise technology, including industrial AI, and was involved across the investment process while working with portfolio companies in both Southeast Asia and Europe.
Before venture capital, Minh built a career in strategy and business development in Europe. He was a Manager at A.T. Kearney in Paris, working across markets in Europe, Southeast Asia and the Middle East with a focus on operations in consumer goods and private equity. Earlier, he held business development and strategy roles in energy, engineering and construction — including at Egis and Assystem — and has experience launching new ventures within a corporate setting.
Academically, Minh holds a BSc and MSc from France's École Polytechnique (Economics and Mechanical Engineering) and a Master of Science in Structural Engineering from UC Berkeley. This combination of engineering training and consulting/operations experience informs his interest in technical, enterprise-grade software and AI businesses.
Note: Minh no longer appears on Qualgro's current public team page, which may indicate he has moved on from the firm since this profile's source material was published; the details above reflect his tenure and role at Qualgro as documented in firm and press materials.
Investment Thesis & Focus
- Invests in B2B tech companies — SaaS, enterprise software, Data/AI, and industrial AI — aligned with Qualgro's thesis that Southeast Asia is "home to the next big B2B tech companies."
- Backs companies at Series A and B, Qualgro's core stage.
- Looks for companies with regional or global ambition: "companies that we invest in, we want them to have at least the potential to be a regional player."
- Views Southeast Asia as a high-return frontier: "scaling in [Southeast Asia] is more complex than in [the US] and gives better returns," and "Southeast Asia is definitely a good next step" for European startups expanding beyond their home market.
- Agnostic on deal role — Qualgro is "quite agnostic" about whether it leads or follows, prioritizing exposure to strong companies and demonstrating Southeast Asia's viability to founders.
- Emphasizes founders tracking the right growth metrics — a recurring theme in his public commentary on what makes a company fundable.
