Background

Morten Hummelmose (born 1971) built his career over more than 16 years at the Nordic private-equity firm EQT, which he joined in August 2006. At EQT he rose to Senior Partner, sitting on the firm's Investment Committee and Executive Committee while leading its fundraising and client-relations function as Head of Client Relations and Capital Raising. He departed the firm in early 2023. Before EQT, he held corporate-finance roles at Enskilda Securities, Goldman Sachs International, and Nordea. He holds an M.Sc. in Economics (Cand. Polit.) from the University of Copenhagen and a master's degree in Finance from the University of London.

Since leaving EQT, Hummelmose has concentrated his professional life on his own family office, Frececo ApS, of which he is founder and CEO, using the entity for private investments. In 2024 he and his wife, Nanna Hummelmose, established the Frececo Fonden (Frececo Foundation), a philanthropic vehicle rooted in a stated commitment to human rights and social responsibility; reporting indicates the foundation is intended to eventually hold at least DKK 500 million and to distribute around DKK 25 million annually.

Beyond his own vehicles, Hummelmose holds a portfolio of board and investment-committee seats. He is Chair of the board of Danish cycling-apparel brand Pas Normal Studios ApS, a board member of Human Rights Watch, a co-founding member and Investment Committee member of the EQT Foundation (established 2019), and — since 2025 — a member of the board and investment committee of the Lundbeck Foundation, where he is classified as an independent director.

Investment Thesis & Focus

  • Invests private capital through Frececo ApS, a family office described as combining philanthropic and investment activities.
  • Concentrated on Danish / Nordic companies, with a notable tilt toward e-commerce and consumer/lifestyle brands (per Nordic9's profiling of his deal activity).
  • Brings a private-equity operator's lens — decades of investment-committee, fundraising, and governance experience from EQT — and tends to take active governance roles (e.g., board chairmanship) rather than purely passive stakes.
  • Philanthropic and mission-driven threads run through his work: the Frececo Foundation and his Human Rights Watch board seat reflect a stated focus on human rights and social responsibility.

Notable Investments

  • Pas Normal Studios — Danish premium cycling-apparel and e-commerce brand; Hummelmose is an investor and Chair of the board.
  • Frececo ApS portfolio — private holdings made through his family office, reported to be weighted toward Danish e-commerce; specific holdings beyond Pas Normal Studios are not fully public.
  • EQT Foundation — co-founding member and investment-committee member (philanthropic vehicle tied to EQT).
