Background
Nitin Seth is a self-described "techie turned entrepreneur." He earned a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from IIT Bombay (Powai) and has spent his career building telecom, web, and mobile startups. Before his current venture, he co-founded Mobiance, a location-based mobile startup, where he served in a business-development leadership role, developing product-to-market and enterprise-partnership experience.
In July 2008 he co-founded Screen-Magic Mobile Media Pvt. Ltd. alongside Sandip More (CTO & Co-Founder, also from IIT Bombay), and has led the company as CEO ever since. The company became best known for SMS-Magic, a text-messaging application built natively on the Salesforce platform, and grew into a global conversational-messaging leader. Over roughly 15 years the business scaled to thousands of customers across 185+ countries, processing hundreds of millions of messages annually through dozens of direct carrier partnerships.
More recently, Seth has repositioned the 15-year-old SMS-Magic business into Conversive, an AI-first, CRM-native conversational-messaging platform spanning SMS, WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, and other channels. His stated strategic view is that the enterprise-to-consumer messaging landscape is fragmented and increasingly shaped by both AI and regulatory compliance, and that a focused, niche player can win where larger CRM giants are too broad.
Alongside his operating role, Seth is an active angel investor, backing early-stage startups (predominantly in India) in software, marketplaces, and consumer/retail businesses.
Investment Thesis & Focus
- Invests as an individual angel at the seed/early stage, typically co-investing alongside other angels and micro-funds rather than leading large rounds.
- Gravitates toward sectors he knows first-hand as an operator: B2B SaaS, mobile/telecom, business & productivity software, marketplaces, and consumer/e-commerce.
- Reflecting his own company philosophy, he favors founders building a focused, defensible niche — as he puts it: *"We may be smaller than other giant CRM companies, but deliver a niche solution for conversational messaging,"* and *"AI is a challenge as well as an opportunity… it's all about building your niche."*
- As a bootstrapped-turned-global operator himself, he is oriented toward capital-efficient, product-led companies rather than pure capital-intensive plays.
