Background

Oded Eliashiv is a serial entrepreneur turned venture investor with more than two decades of experience in multinational high-tech sales, OEM and strategic partnership deals. Before moving into investing, he founded and led several startups, most notably EPOS, a provider of advanced digital positioning technology for the PC peripheral, notebook and touch-screen markets. He describes his own path as a transition "from CEO to investor," and by his own account has been involved in building and overseeing roughly 30 portfolio companies over his career.

His entry into venture investing came through the Besadno Group. After encountering SkySaver — an evacuation solution for high-rise buildings — he joined Besadno and subsequently became Managing Partner of B-Seed, the group's investment arm focused on early-stage technology firms. Building on that base, he co-founded and became Principal and Founding Managing Partner of BuiltUp Ventures, a Tel Aviv– and New York–based fund that he positions as "Israel's first PropTech and ConTech early-stage fund." BuiltUp's leadership team has included Eli Gross (founder of parent company Besadno Group), Yishai Breslauer (CEO of real-estate private-equity firm SIDRE), and Amos Meron (an investor in 20-plus startups).

More recently, Eliashiv has focused on bridging Israeli innovation to the U.S. market through Nova Gesher Ventures — where he serves as a general partner alongside Bo Megginson — connecting disruptive Israeli technology to capital and growth in the Americas via South Florida. ("Gesher" is the Hebrew word for "bridge.") He is an active participant in the U.S.–Israel tech ecosystem, including as a speaker at eMerge Americas and a presenter of Israeli startups at MIPIM PropTech NYC.

Investment Thesis & Focus

  • Invests at the seed / early stage, aiming to add enough value that companies can raise a Series A without an additional seed round ("positions them for Round A investment, negating the need for additional seed funding").
  • Concentrated on PropTech and its adjacencies — BuiltUp targets three sub-sectors: logistics tech, retail tech, and construction tech — pitching a "360-degree" view of real-estate technology.
  • Looks for founders with "proprietary technology… company building skills, and in-depth market knowledge," combined with large, data-rich real-estate markets ripe for digitization.
  • Practices hands-on, active partnership rather than passive capital — leveraging his own operating experience to help companies grow, a "company building" philosophy he emphasizes repeatedly.
  • With Nova Gesher, adds a cross-border thesis: sourcing Israeli innovation and building "durable connections" into the Americas as a growth and capital bridge.

Notable Investments

  • SkySaver — evacuation/escape device for high-rise buildings; the deal that drew him into Besadno/B-Seed.
  • MyTower — data analytics tool for real estate/building management.

  • Strucshare — digitizing construction purchasing/procurement.
  • Swathly — business-intelligence software for real-estate investments.
