Background
Pam Hirsch is President, COO and a Managing Partner of Schnitzer West, LLC, one of the leading real estate investment, development and property management firms in the Seattle and Denver markets. She has been with the firm since its inception in 1997, spending roughly 28 years working across every facet of commercial real estate — development, acquisition, leasing, disposition and asset management. Over her career she has developed and leased more than 7.2 million square feet of Class-A office, suburban office and industrial space, and led or contributed to the disposition of more than 6.6 million square feet of Class-A office and industrial property.
Schnitzer West was co-founded in 1997 by then-Managing Investment Partner Dan Ivanoff and Ken Novack (then president of Schnitzer Investment Corp.). In April 2023, Hirsch became one of five senior executives elevated to ownership when Ivanoff sold the group a substantial minority interest in the company; Ivanoff retained majority ownership. As part of that leadership team, Hirsch is "primarily responsible for Schnitzer West's strategic and tactical investment execution and expansion plans." She holds an Executive Master of Business Administration from the Foster School of Business at the University of Washington.
Important accuracy note: The stub data classified Pamela Hirsch as an "Angel Investor" focused on "Seed Round" startup deals. Research does not support this. She is a commercial real estate executive and firm owner; her "investing" is institutional real estate acquisition and development, not early-stage startup angel investing. The remaining sections are framed to her actual role; the angel-investor labeling appears to be an aggregator error.
Investment Thesis & Focus
- Leads Schnitzer West in "aggressively and opportunistically acquiring, developing, repositioning, managing and selling commercial and institutional-grade investments."
- Focus assets: Class-A office, suburban office, and industrial real estate in the Greater Seattle/Bellevue region and the Denver metro area.
- Development philosophy in her own words: *"We start by asking the end user what they want and then obsess over the details from design through delivery. This thoughtful approach has resulted in the Schnitzer West team creating exceptional value for our tenants and investors."*
- Emphasis on differentiated, amenity-rich, and increasingly sustainable product (e.g., the firm's Living Building Challenge / carbon-neutral office work).
Notable Investments
- Interval on Mercer (Seattle, South Lake Union/Uptown) — Two eight-story Class-A office buildings, ~430,000 SF, targeting Living Building Challenge certification with carbon-neutral, rainwater- and solar-capturing design; deliveries planned Q2 2024 and Q2 2025.
