Background
Pantelis "Pete" Georgiadis is the founder and CEO of Synetro Group, a Chicago-based private investment and strategic advisory firm he established in 2000. Synetro partners with management teams across three areas — early-stage technology companies, scaling growth-stage firms, and turnarounds of established businesses — and positions itself as an "active partner for growth" that contributes operational guidance and board involvement alongside capital. Over more than two decades, Georgiadis has led Synetro's investments in 50+ companies and has personally helped build and operate more than a dozen software, business-services and manufacturing companies.
Before founding Synetro, Georgiadis built an operating and consulting résumé in technology. He was a consultant at McKinsey & Company, held roles at technology companies in Europe, and served as Chief Operating Officer of Lante Corporation, where he led the firm's strategic repositioning and operating transformation and helped prepare it for its IPO. In the mid-2000s he extended Synetro's model from early-stage growth into acquiring and revitalizing underperforming businesses, most notably Kalamazoo Outdoor Gourmet, the high-end outdoor-cooking equipment maker he repositioned into a category leader.
His academic background is technical and international: a B.Sc. in Electronic Engineering from the University of Sussex, an M.Sc. in Computer Science from Imperial College London, and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School. He sits on several portfolio boards, including as Chairman of CrossCheck Compliance and a director of dScout, and has been associated with the Pleina Group as Chairman & CEO. He is also active in education, social-service and Greek heritage-management organizations.
Notably, Synetro's team also includes Margo Georgiadis, the prominent technology executive (former CEO of Ancestry and Mattel, and former President of Americas at Google), alongside operating partners such as Russ Faulk and Simo Kamppari — giving the firm unusually deep senior operating experience for its size.
Investment Thesis & Focus
- "Active partners for growth." Synetro's stated approach is to add operational value beyond capital — go-to-market guidance, organizational structuring, and engaged board/advisory roles — rather than acting as a passive check-writer.
- Stage-flexible, founder-first. Backs experienced founders building "market-leading web-enabled, software and business-services companies," from pre-revenue seed and Series A through growth co-investments and control buyouts/turnarounds.
- Concrete check sizing. Early-stage: initial investments under $1M with follow-on to ~$5M. Growth: co-investments of $1–20M. Turnarounds: minority stakes under $10M; control deals under $50M.
- Sector conviction in B2B software, tech-enabled services, and health tech, plus consumer internet and marketplaces; deliberately steers clear of life-sciences R&D, retail, entertainment, restaurants, commodities and energy.
- Operator's lens. Georgiadis's own background (McKinsey, COO who took a company toward IPO, hands-on turnaround of Kalamazoo) shapes a thesis that rewards companies where operational execution — not just market timing — drives outcomes.
