Background
Patrick Richard Daley (born June 10, 1975) is the son of former Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley and the late Maggie Daley. He attended Mount Carmel High School in Chicago, briefly enrolled at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, and went on to earn a B.A. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and an MBA with honors from the University of Chicago (2004). He is a CFA charterholder. After completing his MBA, Daley took an unusual path for a former mayor's son: he enlisted as a regular soldier in the U.S. Army's airborne infantry, serving with the 82nd Airborne Division during Operation Enduring Freedom.
Professionally, Daley began in investment banking at Bear Stearns in New York, focusing on real estate, gaming, and lodging. He is a founder and managing partner of TUR Partners LLC, the Chicago private-investment firm he built alongside his father, Richard M. Daley, and partner Mark H. Stisser. Through TUR, Daley has led and completed growth-capital, management-buyout, and distressed investments across telecommunications, consumer products, logistics, and financial services — with deal activity reaching into Russia and China.
In 2025, TUR Partners was folded into a new venture, Great Lakes Global Partners (GLGP), which Patrick co-founded with his father and longtime associate Adam Hitchcock. GLGP describes itself as an "AI-first," "special situations merchant bank operating at the nexus of capital markets and public policy," targeting complex deals "that traditional financial institutions often cannot pursue — deals that demand both political fluency and disciplined execution." Daley also sits on the Board of Advisors of After School Matters and the Board of Directors of the Youth Impact Program (YIP), both Chicago youth non-profits.
Investment Thesis & Focus
- Focuses on growth capital, management buyouts, and distressed/special-situations investments rather than early venture rounds
- Invests across telecom, consumer products, logistics, financial services, real estate, and gaming/lodging
- Great Lakes Global Partners is explicitly "AI-first" and targets opportunities "at the nexus of capital markets and public policy" — deals requiring "both political fluency and disciplined execution"
- Comfortable with complex, off-the-run situations that mainstream institutions avoid; leverages deep Chicago political and business networks
- Geography: primarily U.S. (Chicago), with a track record of international deals (Russia, China) and a stated North America/Europe reach at GLGP
Notable Investments
- Concourse Communications — Cardinal Growth-backed operator of airport Wi-Fi/telecom contracts at O'Hare and Midway; sold to Boingo Wireless in June 2006 for ~$45 million. Daley reportedly earned roughly $700,000 on the deal.
- Municipal Sewer Services — Daley formed MSS Investors LLC with cousin Robert Vanecko in 2003 to take a stake in the Chicago sewer contractor (a stake that later drew ethics-disclosure scrutiny).
- Renovo Financial — Chicago-based residential real-estate/private-lending firm reportedly backed by Daley and TUR Partners; drew press attention over Cook County Land Bank Authority deals (Chicago Sun-Times, 2020).
- Cardinal Growth — early career association with the Chicago venture firm (as an intern and co-investor) that seeded several of his early deals.
