Peter Hynd

Peter Hynd is a co-founder and Managing Partner of North Ridge Partners, an independent technology-focused investment and merchant bank operating across the Asia Pacific with offices in Sydney, Singapore, and New Zealand. He has more than 25 years of experience advising, financing, and investing in emerging technology companies, and today runs deal execution across the firm's sectors. Before founding North Ridge, he worked as a small-cap financier at Ernst & Young, Burdett Buckeridge Young, and Paterson Ord Minnett.

Unusually for an investment banker, Hynd has significant "coalface" operating experience. As he puts it, "Over the past 10 years, I have taken on a range of operational roles including CFO and COO, giving me the 'coalface' experience of running tech businesses alongside CEOs." He served as Chief Financial Officer at GeoOp/Geo (an NZX-listed mobile workforce-management company) from around 2020 to 2022, and earlier as Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer at Asia Pacific Digital, as well as Chairman of Digital Performance Group. He continues to hold board roles, including as an Alternate Director at Geo (NZX).

He is a qualified Chartered Accountant and holds a Bachelor of Business Management, a Bachelor of Commerce, and a Graduate Diploma of Applied Finance. Outside of work he is a keen trail runner and cyclist.

• Works primarily as a trusted long-term advisor on capital raising and M&A rather than as a fund deploying pooled capital — North Ridge partners with companies over multiple rounds and through to exit.
• Values founders and management teams he can build a durable relationship with; his own operating background (CFO/COO) means he gravitates to teams that need a partner who has "run tech businesses alongside CEOs."
• As a personal angel/advisor investor, he backs early-stage technology founders, but his institutional weight is in growth-stage and later rounds (Series A through C) and strategic exits.
