Background

Peter Minne is a Belgian software engineer and entrepreneur best known as a co-founder and the technical founder of Showpad, the Ghent-based sales-enablement platform he started in 2011 alongside Pieterjan (PJ) Bouten and Louis Jonckheere. The three met while working together at Netlog, the pre-Facebook European social network. Minne, who holds a master's degree in computer engineering, wrote the first line of Showpad's code and led its technology as CTO as the company scaled into a global category leader. Showpad was acquired by Vector Capital in 2025 and set to merge with Bigtincan.

Before Showpad, Minne co-founded the mobile development company In The Pocket, where he served as lead developer during its early growth. He began his career as an IT consultant and full-stack web developer, building web applications for clients including MTV. He is known for a strong interest in product design and a "question-the-status-quo" mindset, with a passion for web and mobile.

More recently, Minne turned entrepreneur again as a co-founder of Smart Symbols (founded 2020 with David Minne, based in Ledegem, Belgium). Smart Symbols is an edtech platform for preschool and primary education — a digital planning and free-play "choice board" tool built with input from kindergarten teachers. The company has been backed by imec.istart.

Alongside operating roles, Minne invests personally as an angel, typically writing checks into companies within or adjacent to the Belgian/European SaaS ecosystem in which he built his career.

Investment Thesis & Focus

  • Invests as an angel in early-stage technology startups, drawing on his experience as a technical founder who scaled a SaaS company from a first line of code to a global platform.
  • Strongest affinity for B2B SaaS / enterprise software — the space he knows best from Showpad — with demonstrated willingness to back vertical software (e.g., construction tech via AproPLAN).
  • Frequently co-invests with his Showpad co-founders (PJ Bouten, Louis Jonckheere), indicating a network- and trust-driven approach to deals.
  • Acts as an LP/backer of institutional early-stage vehicles, notably PJ Bouten's Entourage fund — signaling appetite for supporting the European SaaS founder ecosystem beyond direct angel checks.
  • As a hands-on product and engineering person, likely values strong technical founders and product thinking over pure go-to-market pitches.

Notable Investments

  • AproPLAN (now LetsBuild) — Belgian construction-tech SaaS. Minne, with fellow Showpad founders Bouten and Jonckheere, joined the company's €5M Series A (June 22, 2017), led by Fortino Capital with Inventures and Matexi. AproPLAN later merged with Denmark's GenieBelt to form LetsBuild, which was subsequently acquired by Causeway Technologies.
  • Entourage — Venture studio and early-stage VC fund (~€27.7M / $30M) launched in 2024 by Showpad co-founder PJ Bouten. Minne is among the B2B SaaS founder-backers, alongside Louis Jonckheere, Jason Lemkin (SaaStr) and Stijn Christiaens (Collibra).
  • Smart Symbols — Preschool/education-technology platform he co-founded (2020), backed by imec.istart (operating founder role rather than a passive angel check).
