Background
Peter Visser founded Egeria in March 1997 together with the Brenninkmeijer family (the family behind the C&A retail group), establishing it initially as an investment office. Since inception he has led the building and development of the firm, which has grown into one of the leading independent investment companies in the Benelux and DACH regions, with operations also in North America. Egeria today manages roughly €3.5 billion in assets, employs 70+ people directly across five offices, and oversees a portfolio of 20+ companies generating around €2.5 billion in combined revenue and employing more than 14,000 people.
Before founding Egeria, Visser spent seven years as managing director at MeesPierson NV, where he was responsible for the bank's private equity activities across Europe. He began his professional career in 1983 at McKinsey & Company, and subsequently ran his own consultancy and investment firm, Management & Investment BV, for about six years before moving into institutional private equity.
Visser holds a Master's degree (MBA-equivalent) in Business Administration from the University of Groningen and is described as maintaining an extensive professional network in the Netherlands. Within Egeria he is positioned as the founder and long-standing leader of the group, having guided it through the launch of six flagship private equity funds and the build-out of its evergreen and real estate practices.
