Peter Wallace

Peter Wallace is a career private-equity investor who spent nearly three decades at Blackstone, one of the world's largest alternative asset managers. He joined Blackstone's Private Equity Group in 1997 as an analyst directly out of college and rose through the ranks to Senior Managing Director. By the latter part of his tenure he served as Global Head of Core Private Equity, leading the firm's private-equity investments across the services, leisure, and consumer/retail sectors. Blackstone's global head of private equity, Joe Baratta, publicly described Wallace as having "great leadership potential" and as someone who could one day lead the firm.

Wallace graduated *magna cum laude* from Harvard College with a B.A. in Government. He notably chose finance over his family's storied media lineage: he is the son of longtime television news anchor Chris Wallace and grandson of *60 Minutes* correspondent Mike Wallace (as profiled by Fortune when it named him to its "40 Under 40" list in 2014; he was also recognized on Crain's New York "40 Under 40").

In February 2025, Coatue Management—the technology-focused investment firm founded by Philippe Laffont—announced it had hired Wallace as Co-President and Head of Private Investments. In the new role he joins Coatue's executive committee and oversees day-to-day operations of the firm's tactical solutions business (hybrid investments spanning equity and debt), alongside co-president Nathan Urquhart. After a period of garden leave following his Blackstone departure, he began at Coatue in 2026.
