Background
Philip Fischer is a German private-equity investor who spent nearly five years (April 2019 – January 2024) at Avedon Capital Partners, a mid-market growth-investment firm with offices in Amsterdam and Düsseldorf managing over €500 million. Based in Avedon's Düsseldorf office, he led the firm's Consumer & Health sector team for the DACH region and was promoted to Investment Director effective 1 January 2022. He was responsible for four transactions and sat on the advisory board of a portfolio company in the medical micronutrients space.
Before Avedon, Fischer was Head of Equity Investments at SevenVentures / ProSiebenSat.1 Media AG (roughly March 2016 – April 2019), where he led the company's minority-investment activities in growth companies, including portfolio management and deal execution. He began his career in the Investment Banking Division of J.P. Morgan in London, focusing on M&A and capital-markets transactions in the diversified industrials sector.
In March 2024 Fischer moved to Deutsche Private Equity (DPE), one of Germany's larger independent mid-market PE firms, where he holds the title of Director. (Because of this move, the Avedon email/phone above may be legacy contact details.)
Fischer holds a BSc in General Management and Business Law from EBS European Business School in Oestrich-Winkel, Germany, and also studied at the National University of Singapore.
Investment Thesis & Focus
- Invests in established, profitable growth companies, not startups — the "angel / seed" label in the source stub does not match his actual practice.
- Core sector expertise in Consumer & Health (e.g., branded consumer products, healthcare/nutrition), the vertical he led at Avedon.
- Focus on DACH (and Benelux) mid-market SMEs, frequently founder- or family-owned businesses looking for a growth partner.
- Emphasis on buy-and-build and international expansion — Avedon positions itself as a partner that helps companies "accelerate growth in European core markets as well as expansion into selected international regions."
- Comfortable with both majority and minority structures, reflecting his SevenVentures minority-growth background and Avedon's flexible growth-equity approach.
Notable Investments
- Hauck — leading European nursery/baby products brand; Avedon acquired a shareholding to back international growth. Fischer's active/lead portfolio company.
- FormMed HealthCare AG — medical micronutrients company; Avedon investment on whose advisory board Fischer served (the "medical micronutrients" mandate referenced in his profile).
- DELABO Group — dental-lab buy-and-build platform created by Avedon in its Consumer & Health strategy (firm-level deal within his sector area).
