Background
Pierre-Antoine Dusoulier is a French foreign-exchange and fintech entrepreneur best known as the founder and CEO of iBanFirst, a cross-border and multi-currency payments platform for SMEs. He studied at SKEMA Business School (graduating around 2001–2002) and completed a Master's in International Finance at the University of Westminster in London (2001–2002). He began his career as an FX trader at Calyon (Crédit Agricole's corporate and investment bank) in London around 2003.
In 2006 he founded Cambiste.com, the first regulated retail foreign-exchange brokerage in France, giving individuals direct access to the FX market. Saxo Bank acquired Cambiste.com in 2008, and Dusoulier stayed on to become Global Head of Western Europe for the Danish group, opening its Dutch, Belgian and Italian offices.
In 2013 he founded FX4BIZ in Brussels — a transparent online platform for international business payments — which secured a payment-institution license from the National Bank of Belgium the same year. He left Saxo Bank in 2016 to run the company full-time, rebranding it as iBanFirst and repositioning it from an FX specialist into a broader neo-banking/payments platform for European SMEs.
Under his leadership iBanFirst scaled to roughly €65m revenue in 2024 (up ~30% year-on-year) and reached profitability in 2022. In 2021 US private-equity firm Marlin Equity Partners invested about €200m for a majority (~51%) stake to fund organic growth and M&A; the business was reportedly valued around €800m by late 2023. Alongside building iBanFirst, Dusoulier invests personally as an angel across the fintech ecosystem.
Investment Thesis & Focus
- Backs early-stage, mostly seed-round companies as an individual angel, deploying personal capital in exchange for equity.
- Strong tilt toward fintech, payments and financial infrastructure — the domains he has operated in for two decades — plus adjacent enterprise/B2B software.
- As an operator-investor, he brings hands-on credibility in FX, cross-border payments, regulation (payment-institution licensing) and scaling a European fintech from license to majority PE buyout.
- Geographically concentrated in France and Western Europe, mirroring iBanFirst's home markets.
