Background

PJ Lee is a co-founder and managing partner of EverStream Capital (formally EverStream Energy Capital Management, LLC), an infrastructure investment firm he established in 2012 alongside co-founder Carlos Domenech. The firm invests in companies and assets that drive the decarbonizing energy transition and power the world's growing digital infrastructure, focusing on the convergence of renewable energy, storage, carbon capture, and natural gas to meet surging electricity demand from data centers and cloud computing. EverStream describes a track record spanning multiple global funds and more than 15 GW of renewable energy capacity enabled.

Lee brings more than two decades of experience across private equity, project finance, and investment banking — reportedly over 23 years, during which he has helped facilitate roughly $9 billion of financing for infrastructure projects, energy and technology companies, and private equity funds. Before founding EverStream, he served as a Managing Director at Black River Asset Management, LLC (a Cargill-affiliated alternative asset manager headquartered in Minnesota) and earlier as a Managing Director at C.E. Unterberg, Towbin, Inc., the technology-focused investment bank.

He holds a Bachelor's degree in Finance and Economics from Union College. Across his career he has taken active governance roles, serving on the boards of portfolio and affiliated companies including New Era Energy & Digital, Inc. (Nasdaq: NUAI), Enfinity Global, Inc., Engineered Products Company (EPCO), and PDU Cables. He was also a co-founder and board member of Compute North, a crypto-mining and data-center infrastructure company, from roughly 2017 to 2022.

Investment Thesis & Focus

  • Invests in energy-transition and digital-infrastructure assets and companies — renewable generation (solar, wind), battery storage, natural gas, carbon capture, and data centers / fiber / digital assets.
  • Targets infrastructure with proven, reliable technology, long-term energy purchase contracts, and predictable cash-flow streams rather than early-stage technology risk.
  • Operates as an institutional growth/infrastructure equity and project-finance investor, deploying through multiple funds globally rather than writing small seed checks.
  • In the firm's words, EverStream invests in "companies and assets that drive today's sustainable energy transition and tomorrow's industrial and data-driven economy."
  • Lee's own framing: "As a team of innovators and pioneers, we seek and value those partners who share our vision and passion for influencing the positive change happening in the world today."

  • Enfinity Global — Global renewable energy development platform sponsored/backed by EverStream; pipeline of 3GW+ of solar and wind, including ~400 MW of operating solar projects.
