Background

Quinten Hoogeboom is a Dutch private-equity and M&A professional who joined Karmijn Kapitaal, the Amsterdam-based gender-diversity-focused private equity firm, as an Investment/Transaction Manager. Karmijn was founded in 2010 by three women and invests exclusively in established, profitable companies that have a female CEO or a management team that is between 25% and 75% women. Hoogeboom's role centers on executing and managing transactions — he has described enjoying "working together with entrepreneurs on strategy or takeover plans" and helping portfolio companies "professionalize finance processes in order to create more insight and control."

He began his career at Cyrte Investments, the Amsterdam investment house, where he focused mainly on technology and media and was involved in investments including the navigation company TomTom and Dutch newspaper publisher De Telegraaf. He later spent three years as an M&A advisor at Deloitte in Sydney, Australia — a move prompted by a job offer he "could not refuse" after selling a boat-rental intermediary website he had built and run on the side to an insurance company.

Hoogeboom studied Business Economics at the University of Amsterdam and is a CFA charterholder (earned January 2015). He has also completed a Value Creation program (2019) and management-assessment training (2022), reflecting an operational, value-creation orientation alongside deal execution.

More recently, his LinkedIn presence indicates he founded/operates QFO Advisory, a corporate-finance and M&A advisory practice in the Netherlands ("I help you sell your company or make an acquisition"), offering buy- and sell-side advisory, valuation and negotiation support. Note that Karmijn's current published team roster no longer lists him, suggesting his primary focus has shifted toward his own advisory firm.

Investment Thesis & Focus

  • Invests through Karmijn Kapitaal in profitable, established lower-mid-market companies, not startups — growth capital, late-stage financing, management buy-outs/buy-ins, corporate spin-offs and family-business ownership transitions.
  • Gender-diversity mandate: the company must have a female CEO or a management team that is 25%–75% women — the firm's defining "yes/no" filter.
  • Check size of roughly €2M–€13M of equity per deal (Fund III targets ~€100M; an earlier fund was reported around €15M), into companies valued ~€5M–€50M.
  • Sector-agnostic across production, trade and services, but explicitly avoids financial institutions, other funds, real estate and biotechnology.
  • Long-term, "hard and soft" value creation: Karmijn weighs not just financial metrics but softer factors such as employee happiness, innovation and strong personal relationships when assessing long-term viability.
  • Geography: Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg.

Notable Investments

  • BPI Services — IT company specializing in identification applications; Karmijn took a majority stake to accelerate growth and fund add-on acquisitions. Hoogeboom was part of the deal team.
  • Memorix / Picturae → Vitec Software Group — Hoogeboom was involved in the carve-out and sale of the Memorix division of Picturae to Sweden's Vitec Software Group (~2023), described as a complex carve-out transaction.
  • TomTom — navigation/technology company; an investment Hoogeboom worked on earlier in his career at Cyrte Investments.
  • De Telegraaf (TMG) — Dutch newspaper/media group; a media investment he was involved with at Cyrte Investments.
