Background

Rachel Geller joined Insight Partners in 2008 and is a Managing Director. Insight’s team page says she helps lead investments in high-growth software and internet companies, with a focus on application software and marketplaces. She also works closely with multiple Insight portfolio companies.

Geller began her career at Insight as part of Insight Onsite, the firm’s operating and value-creation arm, where she scaled and led the strategy and M&A team. Insight says she has helped evaluate hundreds of potential investments and has provided investment, growth, and M&A support for more than 50 portfolio companies, including Conga, Qualtrics, HealthcareSource, Kinnser, eVestment, and HauteLook.

Before Insight, Geller worked in strategy consulting and product marketing at American Express. She graduated with honors from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School with a Bachelor of Science in Economics.

In January 2018, Insight Venture Partners promoted Geller to Managing Director. At the time, Insight described her as leading due diligence for Insight investments and working with portfolio executives on strategy, pricing, and M&A.

Investment Thesis & Focus

  • Invests in high-growth software and internet companies, with an emphasis on application software and marketplaces.
  • Focuses heavily on vertical software. In Insight’s 2025 investor predictions, she said: “I continue to be excited about vertical software and its potential to disrupt industries that are still operating in highly manual ways.”
  • Looks for founders with domain expertise and focus on simplifying workflows and user experience. In the same 2025 piece, she said she gets excited by “a founder with true domain expertise and laser focus on simplifying workflows and the user experience.”
  • Values grit and efficient growth. In Insight’s 2025 predictions, she said “Grit is the first word” she associates with founders and companies likely to thrive, especially after the pressure to do more with less.
  • Sees M&A as a practical growth lever for software companies. She has written and spoken about building a “Pipeline of Targets” and, in 2025, predicted more tuck-in acquisitions by private and public software companies to expand product categories or geographies.
  • In 2026, her AI/software view emphasized fast innovation and AI-native workflow change: “AI doesn’t just add features — it makes entirely new products possible,” and “companies that are going to be the most successful are the ones that are just innovating faster.”
