Background
Randy C. Conner is President and Vice Chair of Churchill Management Group, a Los Angeles–based registered investment advisor founded in 1963. He first joined the firm in 1992 as a Securities Analyst focused on fundamental research. After a brief period in the banking industry, he returned to Churchill as a Senior Vice President and rose to President in 2000, a role he has now held for more than two decades. Over his career at the firm he has helped grow assets under management from under $400 million to roughly $5.2 billion by 2017, with the broader Churchill organization reporting over $8.2 billion in combined assets and more than 6,500 clients as of March 31, 2024.
Conner serves on Churchill's Portfolio Management / Investment Management Team and is the lead Portfolio Manager on the firm's ETF Sector Rotation Strategy, applying what the firm describes as a "unique blend of Tactical and Fully Invested strategies." He holds an MBA from the University of Southern California (USC).
Churchill Management Group has since become part of Focus Partners Wealth (Forbes now lists Conner under the Focus Partners Wealth banner, with team assets custodied of roughly $10.4 billion). Conner is a frequent media presence on investing topics — he has appeared on Fox Business Channel (including with Maria Bartiromo) and has written as a guest columnist on ETFs for Investor's Business Daily.
He is consistently ranked among the country's top wealth advisors: Forbes named him the #1 Best-in-State Wealth Advisor for CA–Los Angeles (High Net Worth) for multiple consecutive years, and he has appeared on Forbes' advisor rankings roughly 18 times. Churchill was also named to Barron's Top 30 RIA Firms list in 2017.
Investment Thesis & Focus
- Invests client capital in public markets, not private startups; there is no evidence of angel, seed, or venture-stage investing.
- Leads Churchill's ETF Sector Rotation Strategy, rotating exposure across market sectors using ETFs.
- Emphasizes a blend of Tactical (actively managed/risk-managed) and Fully Invested equity strategies, paired with comprehensive financial planning.
- Serves high-net-worth households — typical client net worth $2.5–10M, minimum new account size ~$1M.
- In his own words: *"I am incredibly proud of Churchill's continued growth and dedication to helping our clients achieve their personal and financial goals."*
Notable Investments
- No angel, seed, or venture-capital deals are documented for this Randy Conner. His "investments" are public-market strategies managed on behalf of Churchill's wealth-management clients, principally the firm's ETF Sector Rotation Strategy and Churchill's Tactical and Fully Invested equity portfolios.
- Founders seeking startup capital should treat this profile as not a match for early-stage fundraising.
