Background

Rasmus Molander is a Co-Managing Partner at Adelis Equity Partners, a Stockholm-based private equity firm he joined in 2013. He is one of the firm's most senior leaders and drives much of its activity in healthcare and life sciences, though he sits across a range of portfolio companies. Adelis, founded in 2012, focuses on partnering with entrepreneurs and management teams to build category leaders in Northern Europe; it has raised roughly €4.3 billion in capital, made 49 platform investments and 300+ add-ons, and completed 22 exits.

Before Adelis, Molander was an Investment Executive at Permira, the global private equity firm, where he focused on healthcare and the Nordic region. Earlier he spent several years at the Boston Consulting Group (BCG), rising to project leader. Some aggregator profiles also associate him with Warburg Pincus and Dayton Group earlier in his path.

Academically, Molander holds an MSc in Industrial Engineering and Biotechnology from the Helsinki University of Technology and an MBA from Harvard Business School, where he graduated as a Baker Scholar (top of his class, 2008–2010).

He is an active board member across the Adelis portfolio, currently serving on the boards of SSI Diagnostica Group, Nordic Biosite Group, Ropo Capital, re:mount, Puuilo and as Chairman of Dayton Group. Past board roles include Chairman of Med Group, plus Valtti, NGI and QMG.

Investment Thesis & Focus

  • Invests through Adelis' buyout/growth model — taking meaningful ownership stakes in small-to-medium Northern European companies (revenues ~€10–300m), not seed-stage angel checks.
  • Deep specialization in healthcare and life sciences, drawing on his Permira healthcare and diagnostics-heavy board portfolio (SSI Diagnostica, Nordic Biosite).
  • Adelis' stated approach: partner with "ambitious entrepreneurs and management teams," offering "experience, network, capital and commitment," and create value through industry consolidation (buy-and-build), digitalization, and international expansion, with aligned management ownership.
  • Prefers platform-and-add-on strategies — Adelis pairs each platform investment with numerous bolt-on acquisitions to build market leaders.

Notable Investments

  • Puuilo — Finnish discount retail chain; Adelis-backed and publicly listed (Nasdaq Helsinki, 2021). Board member.
  • SSI Diagnostica Group — Danish diagnostics/microbiology company. Board member.
  • Nordic Biosite Group — Nordic distributor of life-science reagents and antibodies. Board member.
  • Ropo Capital — Nordic invoicing, payments and debt-collection platform. Board member.
  • re:mount — Adelis platform. Board member.
  • Dayton Group — Chairman.
  • Med Group — Finnish healthcare services company (former Chairman).
  • Valtti, NGI, QMG — prior Adelis portfolio board roles.
