Background

Rasmus Wolff is a Danish-rooted tech operator turned angel investor, best known for his early leadership role at food-delivery pioneer Just Eat, where he served as Group Chief Development Officer (also described as VP) during the company's rapid scale-up after its UK launch in 2006. That operating experience in a high-growth, network-effect marketplace became the template for the rest of his career.

After Just Eat, Wolff moved to Berlin to join travel-experiences marketplace GetYourGuide as Chief Commercial Officer, where he helped accelerate the business to more than €100m in annual transaction value over roughly two years. In March 2015 he struck out on his own, co-founding the Berlin food-delivery startup Hungr (with former Just Eat group operations colleague Giorgio Ponticelli) and serving as CEO. Hungr's twist was letting users pick a dish first and then surfacing a short list of hand-picked restaurants by rating, distance and price. It raised roughly €0.5m in seed funding and signed ~200 Berlin restaurants, but after about 12 months it failed to reach escape velocity and Wolff wound the business down.

Since then Wolff has stayed in the education and marketplace space as an operator-investor: he held a Chief Development Officer role at Amsterdam edtech StuDocu, and serves as Chairman of the Board at CareerFoundry (a Berlin-based online career-education company) and as a Board Member at Chama (The App). Alongside these board roles he invests his own capital as an angel through RW Ventures, backing companies where he can apply his marketplace and internationalization playbook.

Investment Thesis & Focus

  • Invests at angel / seed stage, typically as a former operator who can add hands-on marketplace and go-to-market experience.
  • Especially drawn to digital marketplace models and internationalization — businesses that can "harness network effects and scale internationally" (per his RW Ventures positioning).
  • Sector interests span food & delivery, education/edtech, automated/autonomous vehicles, retail, consumer marketplaces and the gig economy — reflecting his own operating history at Just Eat, GetYourGuide, StuDocu and CareerFoundry.
  • Values founders building for large-market impact with strong unit economics and defensible network effects, the same qualities he lived through at Just Eat and GetYourGuide.
  • Frequently combines a board or advisory seat with a check, rather than acting as a purely passive angel.

Notable Investments

  • ClickMechanic — UK on-demand car-repair marketplace; participated as an angel in its ~£320K seed round (2015), one of his earliest deals.
  • Bestmile — Swiss fleet-orchestration software for autonomous/automated vehicles; angel investment recorded around 2019.
  • GetYourGuide — Berlin travel-experiences marketplace where he was CCO and also holds/held an investor interest.
  • Meet5 — Frankfurt-based social app for the over-40s (Europe's largest in that niche); part of his consumer-social exposure, and which raised €8M in 2025.
  • Chama (The App) — where he serves as a Board Member.
  • Reported across sources to hold interests in roughly 6–9 digital companies in food, education, mobility, retail and consumer marketplaces.
