Background
Rémi Monglon is a Principal (Managing Director) at PineBridge Benson Elliot, the pan-European real estate private equity business formerly known as Benson Elliot Capital Management. He has roughly two and a half decades of experience in the real estate industry and leads the firm's investment activities in France. He joined Benson Elliot in 2006.
Before Benson Elliot, Rémi was an Investment Manager at Lehman Brothers Real Estate Partners, where he was responsible for four real estate portfolios across France and Italy. Prior to that he spent about six years at Archon Group, a Goldman Sachs Group company, latterly as a Portfolio Manager overseeing five portfolios valued at approximately €1.8 billion.
He holds a Master's in Finance & Real Estate from Paris University XII (Paris-Est Créteil) and a Bachelor's in Law & Tax from the Sorbonne. He is a native French speaker and is fluent in Italian.
His firm, Benson Elliot, was acquired by PineBridge Investments (announced December 2020) and rebranded PineBridge Benson Elliot. The combined platform is a pan-European real estate specialist managing over US$3.8 billion of AUM (as of 30 June 2023), with in-house operational and asset-management expertise.
Investment Thesis & Focus
- Invests institutional private equity capital into European commercial real estate, not startups — value-add and opportunistic strategies via direct asset acquisition, development, and repositioning.
- Rémi's mandate is France, primarily the Paris region: offices (including La Défense), redevelopment and pre-let development plays, and mixed-use.
- Deals are structured as direct acquisitions and joint ventures (e.g., with local operator Générale Continentale Investissements / GCI) rather than equity checks into operating companies.
- Emphasis on environmental credentials and high-quality, efficient office product — the strategy targets modern, sustainable space that can be leased to institutional tenants.
- Value creation levers are development, refurbishment, leasing (pre-lets), and active asset management, aiming for institutional-scale returns rather than venture-style growth equity.
Notable Investments
- Latitude (Paris / La Défense area) — office development/redevelopment delivering efficient, high-quality office space with strong environmental credentials.
- Inspira, Issy-les-Moulineaux — ~11,250 sqm office building acquired via a joint venture between Benson Elliot and Générale Continentale Investissements (GCI).
- Major Paris office redevelopment (with GCI) — a large office redevelopment that reached a ~22,000 sqm pre-let, reported by Business Immo / Europe Real Estate.
- "The Mark" (PineBridge Benson Elliot) — a UK development for which the firm secured planning permission and financing (part of the broader platform's activity; France-specific attribution to Rémi not confirmed).
