Background

Richard Anthony Moxon (born January 1972, British) is a Greater Manchester–based investor and entrepreneur whose career spans wealth management, real estate and leisure investment. From 2003 to 2010 he was a director of LCM Family Limited (company no. 04709097), a Manchester multi-family office established in 2003 that provided wealth management, tax, retirement, succession-planning and investment advice; the LCM Wealth / LCM Family brand (lcmwealth.co.uk redirects to lcmfamily.co.uk) is the source of his known email address. The related LCM Wealth Management Limited was the subject of a Companies Act section 994 unfair-prejudice petition brought by Moxon (*Re LCM Wealth Management Ltd / Moxon v Litchfield* [2013] EWHC 3957 (Ch)) after his removal as a director.

In November 2010 he incorporated Moxon Global Investments Limited ("MGI", company no. 07433107, based in Bolton), which has served as his personal investment holding vehicle and the root of his "MGI"-branded entities. In 2012 he was one of two founder directors of MGI Golf and Leisure Opportunities Fund Limited, a fund structured to raise capital (via the Channel Islands Stock Exchange) to invest in golf-related assets. That fund acquired, from the late Jaime Ortiz-Patiño, Swiss holding companies (Soto Properties SA and Campo Alto SA) whose Andalucían real estate included the world-famous Valderrama golf course — a transaction later litigated in *Ortiz-Patino v MGI Golf and Leisure Opportunities Fund Ltd* ([2023] EWHC 1203 (Ch); [2024] EWCA Civ 862). His LinkedIn handle ("richard-moxon-valderrama") and roles at MGI Estates S.A. (formerly Valderrama Estates S.A.) and Spanish vehicles such as Inversiones Acuatro 2021 SL and Promociones Valdeflores Spain SL reflect this Spanish real-estate activity.

Most recently, in February 2023 he co-founded MGI Arena Group Limited (company no. 14643982, Bolton/Manchester) together with Sam (Samuel James) Moxon, along with sister companies MGI Arena Properties, MGI Arena UK and MGI Arena Manchester. He is described as Co-Founder & CEO. MGI Arena positions itself around asset management for shopping centres, retail warehouse and leisure parks and town-centre regeneration, plus real-estate advisory to sports arenas, local authorities, universities and hospitals — with an ambition described publicly as building a ~£250m add-value investment portfolio. Sam Moxon leads a parallel "Gaming, Esports & Metaverse Innovation" strand, which is the most likely origin of Richard Moxon's classification as a seed-stage angel.

Investment Thesis & Focus

  • Invests primarily through his own vehicles (Moxon Global Investments / MGI Arena Group) rather than a conventional VC fund, taking hands-on, director-level roles in the assets he backs.
  • Core focus is real estate and leisure: retail warehouse parks, supermarket/retail developments, selective shopping centres, multi-let logistics, industrial open storage, town-centre regeneration and sports-arena advisory — publicly framed around building an add-value portfolio targeting "attractive risk-adjusted income and capital returns."
  • History of golf & leisure asset investment, exemplified by the MGI Golf and Leisure Opportunities Fund's acquisition of the Valderrama estate in Spain.
  • Emerging gaming / esports / metaverse angle via MGI Arena's innovation arm (led by co-founder Sam Moxon) — the likeliest basis for a "seed-stage angel investor" tag; note that his verifiable track record is weighted toward property and leisure rather than technology startups.
  • Check size and formal target-company criteria are not publicly documented (omitted rather than guessed).

Notable Investments

  • MGI Golf and Leisure Opportunities Fund / Valderrama estate (2012) — fund he co-founded that acquired Swiss holding companies owning Andalucían real estate including the Valderrama golf course; later the subject of protracted litigation (2023–2024).
  • MGI Estates S.A. (formerly Valderrama Estates S.A.) — Spanish real-estate holding/operating entity where he is listed as owner/president & CEO.
  • MGI Arena Group (2023– ) — his current platform for retail/leisure real-estate asset management, regeneration and (via a partner) gaming/esports/metaverse ventures.
  • Moxon Global Investments Limited (2010– ) — personal investment holding company.
  • LCM Family Limited (2003–2010) — Manchester multi-family office where he was a founding-era director.
