Background

Richard Yeh is a Managing Director and Co-Manager of BBH Capital Partners (BBHCP), the private equity investment arm of Brown Brothers Harriman, the oldest and one of the largest private partnership banks in the United States. He has been with the BBHCP platform since roughly 2012 and heads the group's Operational Resources Group, where he coordinates the strategic and operational initiatives used to drive growth and improve operating performance across BBHCP's portfolio companies. His profile combines private-equity investing, strategy consulting, and hands-on operational work.

Before joining BBH, Yeh was an Associate Partner at Bain & Company, working within Bain's performance-improvement, mergers-and-acquisitions, and private-equity practice areas. Earlier in his career he invested in middle-market companies as an Associate at Arsenal Capital Partners and served as Manager of Strategic Development at a technology startup, giving him direct operating exposure in addition to his investing background.

Yeh earned an A.B. from Dartmouth College and an MBA from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He currently serves on the boards of directors of GIFTED Healthcare (Gifted Nurses LLC), a healthcare staffing company, and American Spraytech LLC, a contract manufacturer of aerosol and spray products — both BBHCP portfolio companies.

BBH Capital Partners has raised a series of institutional funds; its most recent, BBH Capital Partners Fund VI, closed at $1.215 billion in 2021, exceeding its target by more than 21%. This scale places Yeh firmly in institutional private equity rather than angel investing.

Investment Thesis & Focus

  • Invests through BBHCP's lower-middle-market private equity strategy, typically deploying $40M–$150M of equity per deal into established, profitable North American companies — a fundamentally different profile from angel/seed investing.
  • Sector emphasis on healthcare, TMT (technology/media/telecom), business products & services, consumer products, and manufacturing/industrial.
  • Flexible mandate: BBHCP can act as a control or non-control investor and can provide subordinated debt in select situations, tailoring "highly customized capital solutions" to each company.
  • Yeh's specific value-add is operational, not just financial — as Head of the Operational Resources Group he is responsible for post-investment performance improvement, growth initiatives, and operating turnarounds across portfolio companies.
  • Backed by the balance sheet and long-term orientation of Brown Brothers Harriman, favoring durable businesses over high-risk, pre-revenue bets.

Notable Investments

  • GIFTED Healthcare (Gifted Nurses LLC) — healthcare/nurse staffing company; Yeh serves on the board of directors.
  • American Spraytech LLC — contract manufacturer of aerosol, spray, and liquid-fill consumer products; Yeh serves on the board of directors.
  • Broader BBHCP portfolio spans healthcare, TMT, business services, consumer, and industrial/manufacturing companies invested out of BBH Capital Partners funds (Fund VI closed at $1.215B in 2021).
