Rob Engels

Rob Engels is a Dutch pension-investment professional associated with Stichting Pensioenfonds SNS REAAL. Public pension-fund materials identify him as chair of the fund’s Verantwoordingsorgaan, the accountability body that reviews the board’s policy and has advisory rights on pension-fund matters.

Engels described his own career in the pension fund’s 2023 election materials: he lives in Breda, retired in July 2022, and from 1995 worked at SNS Bank in management roles related to wealth management and wealth accumulation, collaborating with SNS, ASN, CVB/RegioBank and BLG colleagues. In 2014, he joined Pensioenfonds SNS REAAL as Investment Officer, with first responsibility for balance-risk management and asset management.

He also served for seven years as a member and chair of the Raad van Deelnemers, the fund’s participant council. He says he holds A and B pension-board diplomas. His LinkedIn profile lists Stichting Pensioenfonds SNS REAAL and University of Tilburg, where he studied from 1976 to 1983.

As of the fund’s current public accountability-body page, Engels represents pensioners and is listed as chair. In a December 10, 2024 interview, he said the fund’s transition to the new Dutch pension system was the accountability body’s top agenda item, with the fund aiming to move to the new arrangement on January 1, 2027.
