Robert Leitão is a Managing Partner of Rothschild & Co Gestion, the top holding company of the Rothschild & Co Group, Co-Chairman of the Rothschild & Co Group Partners Committee, and Head of Global Advisory — the group's M&A and financing advisory division. He is also Chief Executive of N M Rothschild & Sons, the group's UK subsidiary. He was named Head of Rothschild Global Advisory in 2013 and has since sat at the centre of the firm's leadership.
He joined Rothschild & Co in 1998. Before that he was a Director and Head of UK M&A at Morgan Grenfell & Co. Limited. Across a roughly 30-year career as a senior mergers & acquisitions banker and capital markets specialist, he has advised clients on more than 200 transactions worldwide.
Leitão graduated with a degree in Engineering from Imperial College London and qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Peat Marwick Mitchell & Co (now part of KPMG). Beyond Rothschild, he serves as an Independent Director and Chairman of the Audit Committee of the NYSE-listed Manchester United plc, is a member of the Advisory Board of Lowy Family Partners (the private investment business and family office of the Lowy family), and is Chairman of the not-for-profit digital charity platform, the Pennies Foundation.
