Background

Roberto Langenauer Neuman is CEO and Senior Managing Partner of Nexxus Capital, one of the largest independent private equity firms focused on the Mexican and Spanish middle markets. According to the firm's own team page, he has been involved in the closing of all of Nexxus's investment cycles since 1996, giving him roughly three decades of experience across the firm's full investment lifecycle — sourcing, valuation, portfolio management, and divestment. Over that period he has also carried the title of Managing Director & CFO, and is responsible for screening private equity proposals, valuation, market analysis, governance, management assessment, and transaction execution.

Prior to Nexxus, Roberto worked for several years at a family-owned manufacturing company, and some profiles note experience in corporate finance advisory work. He holds a degree in Industrial Engineering from the Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City.

Nexxus Capital, founded in the late 1990s, has invested in more than 40 mid-sized companies over ~25 years and manages well over US$1.9 billion in capital across a series of private equity and, more recently, private debt funds. The firm has a long institutional track record, including a 26-year relationship with the International Finance Corporation (IFC), which first invested in a Nexxus PE fund in 1999. Langenauer has been a central figure in the firm's marquee transactions, including several IPOs on the Mexican Stock Exchange.

Investment Thesis & Focus

  • Invests as an institutional private equity and private debt manager — growth-stage and expansion capital, not seed/angel checks.
  • Targets established mid-market companies in Mexico (and Spain via Nexxus Iberia) with stabilized cash flows, credible management teams, and clear paths to scale — often with a public-markets exit (IPO) or strategic sale in mind.
  • Sector-agnostic across consumer, financial services, real estate/hospitality, IT services, healthcare, and industrials.
  • Newer private debt strategy (Nexxus Private Debt Fund II) finances mid-market enterprises and SMEs, with an explicit priority on women-owned and women-led SMEs and on companies positioned to benefit from nearshoring.
  • Emphasis on hands-on portfolio work: Langenauer's stated role centers on monitoring day-to-day operations of investee companies, governance, and execution of divestment strategies.

Notable Investments

  • Homex — Mexican homebuilder; Nexxus participated in its investment and IPO.
  • Sports World (Sport World) — Mexican fitness-club chain; portfolio company taken public.

  • Grupo Hotelero Santa Fe — Mexican hotel operator/owner.
  • Maak Holding — portfolio company under his management.
  • AN Global — IT / digital-services company.
  • PIESA (ZKC) — industrial/auto-parts group.
  • Immunotec — health & wellness (network-marketing) company; Nexxus reportedly retained Greenhill to manage its exit.
