Background

Rodrigo Sánchez Servitje is a Mexican investment professional with more than a decade of experience spanning venture capital, investment banking, and marketing across the United States and Mexico. He earned a bachelor's degree in economics from Anáhuac University in Mexico City — where he later taught entrepreneurship in the MBA program — and an MBA from the University of Texas at Austin's McCombs School of Business, where he served as president of the Mexican MBA Society. He is a Kauffman Fellow (Class 17).

He began his venture capital career around 2009 at Gerbera Capital, a Mexican investment management platform specializing in venture capital and real estate, where he worked as a Principal building investment pipelines, running due diligence, and developing strategy. By his own account he has been responsible for over $100 million of investment capital across dozens of transactions, and has invested on behalf of some of the world's most recognized business leaders.

Rodrigo co-founded B37 Ventures (Bridge 37 Ventures) around 2013 with fellow Managing Partner David Hite. B37 is a Silicon Valley–based venture firm built around a proprietary platform through which startups and multinational corporations exchange innovation and scale. The firm's core idea is to derive returns not only from capital but from connecting portfolio startups with the distribution, data, and global reach of its industry-diverse corporate investors. He describes his own role as "a bridge between pioneering entrepreneurs and smart money," and reports spending roughly 70% of his time meeting entrepreneurs (three to four meetings a day) and 30% on fund operations.

Investment Thesis & Focus

  • Corporate-leverage model: B37's differentiator is using corporate assets — distribution channels, data, and market access from multinational investors — to help startups scale, rather than relying on capital alone.
  • Stage & check: Seed through Series B+, writing checks of roughly $100K–$3M; the firm generally does not lead rounds.
  • Sectors: Enterprise SaaS, fintech, logistics, food & agriculture, plus health, data, and engineered biology.
  • Ambition is the filter: He looks for founders thinking at true venture scale — "Entrepreneurs don't think big enough. VC is power law driven and only the top performers drive returns," arguing viable startups need to be capable of "30x to 100x" outcomes.
  • What earns a yes: Disruptive technology with a scalable model and a strong management team; a clear path to internationalization, especially bridging Silicon Valley and Latin America.
  • Personal principle: "Be smart and be honest" — he positions himself as an intermediary between entrepreneurs and investors.
