Background

Roger J. Braunfeld is a founding partner of Royer Cooper Cohen Braunfeld LLC (RCCB), a Philadelphia-based law firm launched in 2012 that serves corporate clients, entrepreneurs, executives, and families. He is a member of the firm's Corporate and Business practice group, where his work centers on financing and development strategies and transactions for investors and businesses at various stages of development. His practice spans fund formation, private equity and venture capital transactions, debt and equity offerings, mergers and acquisitions, real estate, corporate restructurings, and general business counseling. Having previously served as general counsel to several companies, he brings a combined legal-and-operating perspective to his clients.

He earned his B.A. from Bucknell University (1995) and his J.D. from Villanova University Charles Widger School of Law (1999). He has been recognized as a Pennsylvania Super Lawyers "Rising Star" (2005, 2011, 2012), named to Super Lawyers for Business/Corporate law, and honored on the Philadelphia Business Journal's "Forty Under 40."

Beyond his legal practice, Braunfeld has been active in building investment vehicles. He helped create an alternative investment platform for the firm that has deployed more than $600 million, including the One Tower Funds, a $140+ million alternative investment platform. He is a co-founder of the Pennsylvania 30 Day Fund, a nonprofit that provides forgivable loans to small Pennsylvania businesses employing three to 30 people, which he launched alongside Jeff Bartos, Richard Phillips, and Jeff Brown.

He is also involved in the regional business and philanthropic community — serving as a trustee of the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia, chairman of ESF Dreamcamp, a board member of ACR Group Holdings and 3iCO, LLC, and a member of the Jewish Business Network. He is a frequent speaker in the Philadelphia startup ecosystem, including at Venture Café Philadelphia and Smart Business Dealmakers events.

Investment Thesis & Focus

  • Operates primarily as a corporate/finance attorney and fund architect rather than a traditional check-writing angel; his "investing" shows up through structuring and backing alternative investment vehicles and financings.
  • Focuses on "financing and development strategies and transactions for investors and a wide array of businesses in various stages of development" (his own stated practice description).
  • Deep experience in fund formation, private equity, and venture capital — useful for founders raising seed and growth rounds who need deal structuring, not just capital.
  • Through the PA 30 Day Fund, supports very early and small Pennsylvania businesses (3–30 employees) with forgivable loans rather than equity.
  • Geographically anchored in Greater Philadelphia and Pennsylvania; sector-agnostic across his transactional work.

Notable Investments

  • One Tower Funds — a $140+ million alternative investment platform he helped create at RCCB.
  • RCCB alternative investment platform — broader firm platform he helped build that has deployed more than $600 million.
  • PA 30 Day Fund — nonprofit he co-founded (with Jeff Bartos, Richard Phillips, and Jeff Brown) providing forgivable loans to small Pennsylvania businesses.
  • 3iCO, LLC and ACR Group Holdings, LLC (Clermont Trust USA) — companies where he serves on the board.
