Background

Rohit Iragavarapu is a technology investor who joined Tiger Global Management's investment team in late 2022. Before that, he was a Partner at TCV (Technology Crossover Ventures), the Menlo Park–based growth-equity firm he joined in 2019. TCV, founded in 1995, has invested over $18 billion across 350+ technology companies and backed 150+ IPOs and strategic exits — placing Iragavarapu's career squarely in the growth/crossover segment rather than early-stage angel investing.

Earlier in his career, Iragavarapu worked at TPG Global and at Morgan Stanley, giving him a background in private equity and investment banking / capital markets. He holds an MBA with High Distinction (Baker Scholar) from Harvard Business School (2017–2019), a distinction awarded to roughly the top 5% of the graduating class.

His move to Tiger Global came during a turbulent stretch for the firm, whose hedge-fund unit had lost more than half its value in 2022 and which was rebuilding its investment bench, particularly around software/SaaS coverage. At Tiger Global he has continued to lead and support growth-stage technology rounds, appearing as the named investor voice on several recent deals.

Investment Thesis & Focus

  • Invests in high-growth technology companies with proven market traction, strong technology differentiation, and large addressable markets — consistent with TCV's and Tiger Global's crossover/growth mandate.
  • Sector interests span enterprise software/SaaS, fintech, cloud and network infrastructure, and AI/compute infrastructure.
  • On infrastructure, in his own words backing Alkira: *"Increasing cloud and A.I. use is also increasing the complexity, velocity, and scale requirements of network infrastructure… We believe Alkira is well positioned to unlock the growing potential of this rapidly evolving space with its visionary approach, market traction, and cutting-edge technology."*
  • On deep-tech/AI hardware, backing Avicena: *"Avicena's unique technology has transformative potential for improving the bandwidth and reducing the power consumption of AI computing systems."*
  • Aggregator (NFX Signal) data lists an individual check range of $100K–$5M (sweet spot ~$1.5M), skewing toward fintech — useful as a rough guide, though his primary activity has been through institutional growth funds.
