Background

Ronke Oyekunle is a New York–based angel investor and founder whose career spans investment banking and venture capital. She earned a B.A. in Economics and Chinese from Tufts University in 2013, where she was also an All-American in track and field. After a brief early stint in the fund-accounting department of Brown Brothers Harriman in Boston, she pursued finance more directly, completing a Master of Science in Finance (MSF) at Vanderbilt University's Owen Graduate School of Management, where she served on the board of the Women's Business Association.

At Vanderbilt's "Wall Street Trek," Oyekunle connected with alumni at Jefferies who were impressed enough to invite her to interview; she accepted an offer before the end of her first module and moved to New York City to work as an investment banking analyst at Jefferies. From banking she transitioned into venture capital, joining NextEquity Partners — a Menlo Park, California growth- and expansion-stage technology firm founded in 2015 — and relocating to the San Francisco Bay Area. Career records place her at NextEquity as an Associate from roughly July 2017 to July 2019 and as a Senior Associate from July 2019 to July 2020.

Since leaving NextEquity, Oyekunle has held roles associated with Newco and Thirty Madison, and has been active as an angel investor. In 2024 she co-founded (with Sol Lee) Bedelia, since rebranded as Neptune — a concierge, AI-assisted platform that helps couples understand their prenuptial-agreement needs and connect with vetted family-law attorneys. The company reported raising approximately $2.6M (SEC filing, September 2024) from 27 investors. She writes much of the company's educational content on prenups.

Investment Thesis & Focus

  • Invests as an industry-agnostic angel, backing early-stage (seed) technology and consumer companies.
  • Brings a growth-stage VC lens from NextEquity Partners, whose strategy centers on later-stage / expansion technology companies — giving her exposure to how early bets scale.
  • Combines investment-banking rigor (Jefferies) with operating experience as a founder (Neptune/Bedelia), so she evaluates both financials and go-to-market execution.
  • As a founder in legal-tech/consumer AI, she has firsthand conviction in AI-enabled services that make professional expertise more accessible.

Notable Investments

  • MasterClass — online education / celebrity-taught courses platform.
  • SentinelOne — endpoint cybersecurity company (later a public company, NYSE: S).
  • The RealReal — luxury consignment resale marketplace (later IPO, Nasdaq: REAL).
  • Arctic Wolf — security operations / managed detection and response provider.
  • Hatch — consumer sleep and wellness products (smart sleep devices).
  • Neptune / Bedelia — AI-assisted prenuptial-agreement platform she co-founded (2024); ~$2.6M raised.
